The graph gives information about the age of the population of Iceland between 1990 and 2020.Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.


Essay Sample

The graph shows the age distribution of the population of Iceland between 1990 and 2020. In 1990, the majority of the population was between the ages of 20 and 39, comprising 44.6% of the total population. This was followed by the 40-59 age group, which comprised 31.1% of the population. The 60-79 age group was the third largest, accounting for 16.7% of the population. The population aged 80 and over was the smallest, comprising only 7.6% of the population.

By 2020, the population aged 20-39 had decreased to 37.3%, while the 40-59 age group had grown to 33.2%. The 60-79 age group had also grown significantly, accounting for 22.3% of the population. The population aged 80 and over had grown to 7.3%.

Overall, the population of Iceland is aging. The 20-39 age group has decreased significantly since 1990, while the 40-59 and 60-79 age groups have grown significantly. The population aged 80 and over has remained relatively stable.
